Pixiv Shall Die.

-Protest against Pixiv account suspension & suppression of expression-

Main Complaint

About 2 months ago, in early October 2023, my Pixiv account with about 10,600 followers was suspended. I don’t know why, as the action was taken without notification.

The Ruin of Account: https://www.pixiv.net/users/79719443

The most common reason is “inadequate correction of genitalia,” but the work I posted just before the suspension had a mosaic correction on the genitalia (see below for the work in question). Since there was no other reason that came to mind, I have contacted the Pixiv office three times, but have received no response so far.
At the time of account suspension, this website was under construction. I was planning to notify my followers as soon as the construction has been finished and escape from Pixiv, where restrictions on expression are becoming stronger by the day. I regret that I could not inform my existing followers on Pixiv about this site.
Whatever the case, now that I have set up my personal site, I can exercise my liberty of expression in a relaxed manner.

Background to the launch of this website

Background on Pixiv

Under pressure from Mastercard and other international credit card brands, Pixiv has long been tightening restrictions on expression within its own related services. In a December 2022 revision to its terms and conditions, Pixiv prohibited the sale or purchase for a fee of fictional works on its affiliated services, including the following:

  • Sexual exploitation of a minor
  • Incest
  • Bestiality
  • Rape (or any other non-consensual sexual behavior)
  • Non-consensual mutilation of a person or body part

Because of my obsession with pregnant girl-children, I was involved in the “Sexual exploitation of a minor” category. However, I had nothing to do with the December 2022 revision of the terms and conditions, as I had been pusting my works for free to begin with. Nevertheless, I have complied with the Pixiv office’s repeated pressure to remove my work. And they have apologized for their 2nd request, claiming that it was a misunderstanding on their part. See below(in Japanese).

As shown in the image above, two of the works deleted on January 10, 2023, (“https://www.pixiv.net/artworks/103872413″and”https://www.pixiv.net/artworks/102140323”) at the request of the Pixiv office were works for which 3 months had passed since post. In other words, they took advantage of the revision of the terms and conditions to change their interpretation and retroactively exclude works that had not previously been problematic under their rules. Non-retroactivity of law is a major principle of the Nation governed by the rule of law, and I believe that retroactivity after the revision of rules is unreasonable, even if it is the terms of service of a private company.
I became distrustful of the Pixiv office because of the above circumstances, and oriented to escape from Pixiv.

Background on Fantia

In order to escape from Pixiv, I first opened a fan-club on Fantia, a website run by Toranoana Inc. I was active there from December 2022 to May 2023, when the Fantia office suddenly deleted all the AI works in the AI category. The reason was “to protect creators,” but in reality, I assume that it was an excuse for the high cost of reviewing AI works. If the purpose is really to “protect creators,” there is no reason to allow derivative works (fan-fictions) for a fee, which are criminal acts and infringements of copyright, without permission by the original creators. It is a clear contradiction and double standard to exclude AI works that are legal under Article 30-4 of the Copyright Law (in Japan), while allowing derivative works that infringe on the right of adaptation under Article 27 and the right of preservation of identity under Article 20 of the same law. If Fantia is serious about “protecting creators”, it must first prohibit derivative works for a fee. They are a clear violation of the rights of the original creators.
However, I do not have the same dislike for Toranoana Inc. and Fantia as I do for Pixiv. I like the fact that they are protecting pedophile works despite the pressure from credit card companies, and as a for-profit company, it is not surprising that they cannot withstand the volume of AI works and the associated screening costs. ChatGPT and other LLM (Large Langauge Model), or StableDiffusion and DALL-E and other illustration AIs have mass production capabilities far beyond what existing creative platforms can assume. Therefore, eliminating these AI works was an understandable response, but if that was the case, why not just put restrictions on consecutive posts? I doubt it. All in all, I have to say that Toranoana Inc. and Fantia were too hasty and too shortsighted.

In the civilized world of the future, there will be no more intellectual products that do not involve AI. Adobe, a company that has a broad influence on the creative industry, released its own illustration AI, Adobe Firefly, which can also be used commercially in September 2023. In addition to Firefly, Adobe’s products have AI-based production support functions throughout, and all products created using Adobe’s products are AI works in the broad sense. Microsoft is also expanding its AI-assisted Copilot functionality, starting with Version 23H2 of Windows 11, and will soon include it in their Office software. The creative Works, business documents, and industrial products created using Microsoft products such as Windows, Word, Excel, and Access will soon become AI outcomes in the broad sense of the term. And also, the manufacturing of the semiconductors that run the operating systems and software themselves will likely be AI-assisted, as Nvidia announced ChipNeMo, an LLM for semiconductor manufacturing support on October 30, 2023.
Whether you like it or not, it will be impossible to live in a civilized society without AI involvement. As big tech companies and infrastructures actively incorporate AI support, people who have never been exposed to AI or have no intention to AI will be forced to benefit from AI without even knowing it.
When an epoch-making technology comes to the world, it can cause confusion for a while. Platformers including Fantia that prematurely ban the use of AI during this period of confusion are shallow and lacking in foresight. With Adobe and Miicrosoft embracing AI, and other big-tech companies using AI in rapid succession, what will they regulate next? Will they continue with the nonsensical “no Windows, no Adobe” regulations?

Pixiv sucks, Fantia is stupid, and all existing creative platforms are rubbish. Everything where credit card companies have influence is a garbage dump. I finally realized that. So why don’t I just create my own place?
This is how I came to build this website. I am here to pursue my sexual preferences freely and openly.

On the launch of my website

This website operates in the following system environment:

  • Hardware: CPU Intel N95 / RAM 16GB (DDR5-4800) / SSD 1TB (PCIe 3.0 x4)
  • OS: Arch Linux
  • HTTP Server: Nginx
  • Database: MariaDB
  • FastCGI: php-fpm
  • CMS: WordPress
  • CDN: Cloudflare
  • Network: Cloudflare Tunnel

I was familiar with Linux, but I had to learn the other components from the ground-up. This was for the period from June to October 2023, so it would have taken roughly 4 months. However, I spent about 3 weeks playing ARMORED CORE 6 during that time, so it was a net 3 months. I am doing the same thing as Infra-Engineer/Web-Engineer/Web-Designer all by myself, this amount of learning cost was unavoidable… I think so.
This system went into operation on October 28, 2023. After a one-month test period, full-scale operation began on December 10, 2023. This site is now available in both English and Japanese, displayed in either language depending on the visitor’s language preference. Security related settings have also been rigorously set up. I haven’t been able to implement it yet, but I plan to display affiliate ads to the extent that they don’t get in the way to earn money for the operation. Unblock ads if you can.
I will do my best to keep it running as long as possible. To all you Hentai-Pedophile-Otaku who share the same obsession with child-pregnancy as I have, I look forward to working with you.
